Polar FT4 Heart Rate Monitor Review

Another week, another Weight loss Wednesdays post! How are you all getting on?! I’ve had a bit of a rocky week/weekend and haven’t been as good as I wanted and hardly done any exercise either. Who ever thought periods were a good idea needs shooting.
Anyway… Today is a review of a gadget that I’ve been loving since I bought it; the Polar FT4 Heart rate monitor and Watch. This little thing is what every girl needs to keep on top of weight loss and exercise progress to ensure it’s as accurate as it can be! We have a treadmill at home but it’s just a standard one and doesn’t give a good reading of calories burnt as it just goes on average from distance done, speed etc and then there’s the exercises that aren’t done on any equipment so dancing (Just Dance on Xbox One), the Gillian workouts and any other cardio workouts. Using the FT4 ensures that HR is covered constantly and calories burnt are calculated effectively!

The watch is pink and white, something I’d never normally opt for, but you can get different colours. It comes with a HR monitor strap which attaches round your chest whilst you workout and gives you readings during any exercise. You have to manually set up time, date etc but once you’ve done that, it stays set and just adjusts every time you wear it. I found that it's a really nice fit and has a decent length strap so don’t worry if you have fat or thin wrists, it’ll fit the majority of people! The heart rate monitor strap also has quite a bit of give on it too and was easy enough to put on.
The FT4 stores the data from workouts so that you can keep track of what you’ve been doing and calories burnt and progress gradually by setting targets or time limits on exercising. The other really good thing I love is that it monitors your heart rate and gives you a bracket to work between so mine was 127 - 167 BPM and if you go above this, it beeps to tell you to chill out a little and then if it goes below, it’ll beep again to let you know to pick it up a little! This way you’re working at your maximum but not killing yourself by doing too much!
Overall, although it’s quite an expensive gadget, if you’re into working out or are trying to track calories etc. then this is definitely worth the £52.00. I think if anyone regularly works out it’s a good little piece of kit and it will last for years, the only thing you may need to replace is the battery! You can buy the FT4 here and if you have an NUS card, you can get 5% off.
Have you got something like this or have you tried this before!? I’d love to know what you use!
