Yankee Candle Tarts

I don’t think I stand alone when I say how much I love candles in Winter! There’s nothing cosier than snuggling up on the sofa with a blanket, cup of tea and lots of candles flickering around the room - not to mention the lovely scent coming from them!

We don’t have a fireplace in the flat (obviously) so we try to light candles on a daily basis to give a homely feel to it and to also make it smell nice! We have a large Yankee Candle and lots of smaller tin candles and tea candles along with a wax burner. We normally buy scented waxes from eBay for £1.99 and they come in a chunk which kinda looks like a bar of chocolate! You just break bits off and light a tea light under it and it burns away. The scent can normally be smelt for unto 72 hours, after that, it’s not as strong!

Every month though, Yankee Candles have 25% off a certain fragrance, which means that their tarts are only 92p!!  Who can refuse a little melting waxy bar of deliciousness for 92p!? NOT ME! So, after picking up 2 of the cheaper priced ones, I went a little OTT and stocked up for the next few weeks so our little flat smells lovely and autumnal!

Red Jars - Poundland
Candle holder / Wax Burner - eBay £7.99

I think having an oil/wax burner is so much better than paying nearly £20 for a candle that burns out. This way, you can have a different fragrance smelling everyday for as little as 92p! And remember to keep an eye out for the offers on the Yankee Candles or even the Tarts!! I’d really recommend to anyone that loves candles to get a wax burner and some tea lights and just see how much more efficient they are than normal candles!

Do you have a wax burner? What is your favourite fragrance?!

No7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream

Now the cold winds and winter weather has started to make an appearance, my skin is definitely starting to feel it too! In the summer, I have combination skin which is a pain in the arse! When the winter comes, it's dry!! My lips get flaky, my nose and cheeks go super dry and it just all feels bleugh. So, I raided my skincare case to see what day creams I had to help me out a little and found my little No7 samples that I had last christmas! Both un-opened, bonus!

I always try to make sure that when I start a new skincare routine or start using a new skincare product, that my skin is in pretty good condition so I can see how it effects me (good or bad). So I started to use both Day and Night creams and my skin seemed to love them! Even though they're for Normal/Dry skin, after a good dose of cleansing, they sink into my skin like a dream and don't seem sticky or oily afterwards.

As the weather has got colder, I have noticed that my nose and chin are really starting to dry out so I went to Boots to purchase the full size tub but in Dry/Very Dry so that it gave my skin a little extra! I think it's really good that they offer so many options for different skin types as we are all different! It is quite a thick consistency and quite creamy but sinks into the skin perfectly! I apply mine after i've cleansed in the morning and about an hour before I apply my makeup. The night cream is a little thinner  but is the same sort of silky feel once absorbed.

I now use this on a daily basis and have found that I can use different cleansing milks or lotions too and it doesn't effect my skin. Although right now, I have so many spots that I may have to lay off skincare for a few days! I find that sometimes I need a break from make up and skincare and just use a basic soap and water to wash my face to restore the natural oils.

If you're looking for an everyday cream for day and night, i'd definitely look into the No7 range. They have so much choice for every sort of skin type! You can buy Beautiful Skin Day Cream from Boots for £12.50 and at the moment, it's 3 for 2 on all skincare!

Have you tried any No7 Skincare Creams?!

What's Millie Doing?! #5

Millie is  now 6 months old! Can you believe it!? Time has gone so fast, it doesn't feel like 5 minutes since I was laying in hospital giving birth to her (read my birth story here)!

So much has changed this last month too! She's got so much more independent and is starting to hit some major milestones too. I literally can't believe how fast these last 6 months have gone though. You hear it all the time... 'Oh, they grow up so quick!' But they really do! Another 6 months and she'll be 1!!

  • She seems to be really unsettled in her sleeping routine at the moment. We are still dream-feeding her around 10:30pm to see if that keeps her asleep until 7am but some nights are better than others.
  • She loves her food! She will eat pretty much anything we give her although she's not a huge fan of meat meals so we're sticking to veg & fruit at the moment. She also loves the little chocolate puddings and rice puddings that Heinz do!
  • She weighs just over 14lbs. More than double her birth weight but still tiny compared to other babies I know of!
  • She can feed herself pieces of food now too. I give her pieces of bread, tomatoes, baby crisps and biscotti and her hand - eye coordination is brilliant! She also likes feeding herself using the spoon but as you can imagine, not much goes in once she's bashed it on the table a few times first!
  • She can now army crawl! She hasn't quite got the hang of getting on all fours but if we help her out she does it but falls flat on her tummy when she tries to move! Click here to watch a video of her crawling!
  • She can also sit up unaided for a lengthy period of time although we have to stay by her incase she falls as our living room floor is really hard!
  • She is still in size 3 nappies and wearing 3-6 month clothing although we do have some 6-9 month things but they are a little big still! She's super skinny but really long!
  •  She still loves Waybuloo and In the Night Garden. We try to let her watch both before she has a bath!
  • She does this horrid grunt when it seems like she can't get her own way and when she's sick a little after her bottle she'll make it sound so much worse haha, think we've got a little drama queen on our hands!
  • We have a beaker for her water now that she's really got the hang of but it's when she goes to drink it and it comes out too fast where she needs to learn how to use it more! She ends up soaked!!

  • I honestly can't believe that in just over 2 months time, we'll be having our First Christmas as a family! I'm so excited, I get super excited for Christmas anyway but this year it's going to be extra special and I can't wait!

Want to see how much she's changed in the last 6 months, read my life update post here which shows her in the first few weeks of her little life!

    Lush Cinders Bath Bomb

Here's the first of many reviews of the Lush Christmas Collection (you can see what I bought here) and unfortunately, it's not one of the best reviews i've done of a Lush product. I'm always so disappointed when a bath bomb doesn't go as I expect and turns out to be just a boring addition to my bath, and it's a shame to say that Cinders is exactly this.

I was expecting a whirling of reds and yellows and crackling whilst it dissolved but I got none of this and it just ended up turning my bath a mustardy yellow colour, kinda looking like a bath full of wee! The crackles hadn't dissolved and just sat at the bottom of the bath and I couldn't really smell the 'fruit punch' fragrance it claims to hold.

Once I let out the bath water, it also left a grubby yellow line around the bath that took a good bit of Jif and elbow grease to remove - not something I want to be doing when i've just got myself clean! However, it did have did leave my skin soft once I was dry, which is something I like as it means I don't have to moisturise!

There are so many things I love from Lush but unfortunately Cinders, you are not on that list. You can buy Cinders here for £2.45 but I would save the disappointment and go for something else!

Have you tried Cinders!? Was it the same for you!?

    Autumn/Winter Fashion: High End Outerwear

We all have a ridiculous wish list full of the things we know we're never going to get unless we stumble across £1000's! But, there are also somethings that are a little higher in the price but are   still affordable as treats now and again!

The weather is DEFINITELY getting colder unfortunately, so... With that in mind, we all need a decent outer layer to keep us warm, dry and snuggly when the cold winds and rain batter their way down on us this winter! Below are my favourite picks...

    A night in with Goodfellas

It's true that many of us don't make time for friends or family. I for one, am a criminal of this, especially seeing friends but because my best friend lives in Devon, my other 2 closest friends work quite a lot - seeing them proves to be tough! Even spending quality time with Adam is difficult now we have Millie but we do try!

Goodfella's were running a campaign to bring friends together again. Now, I could have waited until there was a day that my friends were free and invited them round to consume the contents of the night in box I was sent, but I could have been waiting weeks so... Instead of our normal friday night take away, Me & Adam decided to make time for each other. We got Millie to bed and rather than spending £15 on pizza like we normally do, we popped down the shop and got some extra chicken pieces and salad to go with the pizza Thin and Crispy Goodfella's had provided.

It came wrapped in a huge box with a bow - when I first saw it I had no idea what it was! It didn't just come with a pizza (well, a voucher for a pizza) it was filled with all the perfect goodies for a relaxing night in - Pizza board, pizza cutter, 2 bottles of Wine, wine opener, Classical Music CD, 2 Lily Flame Candles and a disposable camera!

We poured the wine, cooked the food, put on an episode of Dexter (which is what we're currently loving at the moment) and didn't open up our laptops the whole night! (This again, is something we're both guilty of doing. Sitting on our laptops instead of talking to each other!)

We went for the Pepperoni and Chorizo Extra Thin pizza and even though we're normally lovers of the deep dish, this was amazing! It wasn't too crispy that you felt like you were crunching biscuits and went perfectly with the toppings! We actually said that we'd rather get this and a bit of salad and some chips rather than a takeaway on Friday night!

We probably should have took a few selfies too but we very rarely have photos together, just not that sort of couple really! But keep an eye out soon as i'll be doing a relationship tag style post where you can learn more about Adam!

So all in all, Goodfellas definitely gave us a perfect, chilled night in with all the added extras!

Will you be doing this soon!? You should!
