Carnival Day

What better day to be out in the sun enjoying the local Carnival, aye!? 

Where I grew up there is a long lasting tradition of a village Carnival that has taken place ever since I can remember. Over the years it seems to have got a bit shit though, whether that's down to me growing up and not being 13 and loving life, I don't know... But today, the sun was shining and it was a gorgeous day for it! It was also nice to be back in place I grew up, even though all the faces I see now are so much older and the kids that were younger than me are now old enough to drink! Its scary how fast time goes without you realising! 

There are always about 6-8 floats that local businesses and charities put on with a little help from the kids at the local primary schools to dress them up and its a whole procession around the streets that lasts about 2 hours all together (not 2 hours to watch the whole thing, from the time it sets off from one place and finishes at the other end of the village). The fields in the centre of the village then house 'Barkers Fun Fair' over the weekend and on Carnival Day itself, there is a Summer Fayre type thing on too where you can play tombola games, eat ice cream and enjoy some local music put on by a few of the village talent! This year, they had classic cars and bikes including Mini's & Vespa's known as the 'B5000 Scooter Club'.

We were at my Mum and Dads for the rest of the day, playing in the garden and enjoying a BBQ (my fast day went out the window today, oops) and plan to be doing the same tomorrow to make the most of this gorgeous sunshine! It's the first time Millie has been in the sun really since she was born but she was in her pram or chair most of the time apart from a few times we dipped her feet into the pool! Do you like her new sun hat!? 

 We're all a bit burnt but it's so nice to be able to enjoy a proper summer! Lets hope it's here to stay!!
